How It All Began…

My love of Ragdolls began when I was young. My childhood best friend had the most adorable seal point Ragdoll named Brooke (aka Brookems). She was so sweet and playful. That was the first time I noticed she didn’t bother my allergies like the short-haired domestic cats we had adopted. It was then, as a young child, I remember thinking, “Someday, I want my own Ragdoll.”

Fast forward to my pregnancy with my 3rd child. I was battling depression and my allergies were so out of control that I had to kick my rescue kitties out of my room. I was miserable and all I wanted to do was cuddle my kitties. I remembered never struggling around Brooke so I asked my hubby for a Ragdoll cat for Christmas. While my husband scoffed at the idea of paying for a cat, he felt bad for me so he said yes. It was hard for me to find a reputable breeder in my area so I ended up traveling out of state where I found my lovely seal point Ragdoll from a wonderful breeder in Michigan. My daughter named her Dory and she was just the therapy pet I needed. I could cuddle with her at night and she didn’t bother my allergies. A few years later, my sister who was also struggling with cat allergies, began looking for a Ragdoll cat but could not find one in state. Not too long after she got Felix and Felicity, I had the idea that maybe we could become breeders. My mom and sister had bred collies in the past so animals are kind of our family’s jam. After extensive research, we realized that this business might be a good fit for us. My sister found two mentors to work with us and we purchased our first set of breeders. It’s a lot of work (mostly for Lauren), but it’s been such a joy raising these kittens and helping them find their fur-ever families.
